Cenozoic uplift and erosion of the Norwegian Barents Shelf – A review

چکیده

Uplift and erosion are complex phenomena in terms of their governing processes, precise timing exact magnitude. The intricate relationship between different geodynamic processes leading to uplift may increase uncertainties estimating spatial temporal patterns. Sediment distribution from uplifted (and eroded) topography the corresponding paleoenvironmental reconstructions require reliable constrains. Barents Shelf provides a unique arena study due extensive seismic well data attributed high petroleum activity. This particular interest has led voluminous literature about this topic over last three decades. Here, we present current status Cenozoic on Norwegian by reviewing key terminology, its tectonic history paleoenvironment, methods quantifying erosion, as possible mechanisms. Our new maps show an net north northeast that represents underlying concepts, including (compression, rift-flank uplift, thermo-mechanical coupling, mantle dynamics, flexural/isostatic response) magmatic glacial processes. We have integrated pre-glacial using mass balance method added our results sonic velocity, interval velocity sandstone diagenesis maps. review shows discrepancies estimates order 500 m. Finally, identify research gaps for future studies, with implications other basins worldwide.

The null hypothesis: globally steady rates of erosion, weathering fluxes and shelf sediment accumulation during Late Cenozoic mountain uplift and glaciation

At the largest time and space scales, the pace of erosion and chemical weathering is determined by tectonic uplift rates. Deviations from equilibrium arise from the transient response of landscape denudation to climatic and tectonic perturbations. We posit that the constraint of mass balance, however, makes it unlikely that such disequilibrium persists at the global scale over millions of years...

wuthering heights and the concept of marality/a sociological study of the novel

to discuss my point, i have collected quite a number of articles, anthologies, and books about "wuthering heights" applying various ideas and theories to this fantastic story. hence, i have come to believe that gadamer and jauss are rightful when they claim that "the individaul human mind is the center and origin of all meaning," 3 that reading literature is a reader-oriented activity, that it ...

Late Cenozoic uplift of the Eastern Cordillera, Bolivian Andes

This paper analyses Late Cenozoic uplift in the Bolivian Andes, using the morphology of well preserved regional paleosurfaces in the Eastern Cordillera that define three axially draining braided river catchments that formed between ∼12 and ∼9 Ma. Rock uplift since the formation of the paleodrainage systems, which has been quantified using four different methods, is 1705±695 m, with a mean erosi...
